Welcome to poker-hosting.com this site is dedicated to the game of poker. Having caught the poker bug earlier this year I have become increasingly frustrated by only being able to play on line. To this end I have developed this website to enable likeminded individuals to easily find “bricks and mortar” games or advertise free their existing poker clubs. Many American sites offer this service but only a handful are exclusively UK orientated. Within these pages are details posted by others either looking for a game or looking for players. It seems that we are a friendly lot ready to welcome new players into our respective folds. You will also find the resources needed to host your own tables from chip suppliers to downloadable tournament software. As suppliers become savvy to the home poker phenomenon prices of gaming equipment seem to rise.

To begin with let’s talk about venues, if you are going to host a poker tournament at home make sure your partner is aware of how long your little get-together will last. Does he/she want 6 or 7 of your friends taking up the dining room table, while he/she is watching the eastenders omnibus edition? Is the dining room table big enough? Which room will you have to use? There is nothing worse than interference during a poker game if in doubt hold it at a single mate’s house or even better organize a charity poker tournament at the local (click here to learn more).

After finding a suitable place to host your game the next thing to consider is your poker playing equipment. Do you have an appropriate table?- glass topped coffee tables invite sly under table glances! 8 seat octagon tables can be purchased for as little as 25 quid which sit on top of any relatively sized domestic table. Another option is a poker cloth which can also be bought relatively cheaply. For more permanent poker schools you can even make your own. Details of all these options are listed in the tables section of the site.

The big money however is spent on your playing chips - unless you are going to play with dyed matchsticks that is. You need to have sufficient chips for each player so that the minimum amount of chip exchanging goes on after each hand. A poker school of 8 players each chipping in 25 quid (think how much you spend down the pub on a Saturday night) can buy more than enough good quality chips, or introducing a buy-in fee to invited players can also help. Where to buy these chips and how many you should need per player per starting count are detailed in the chip section of the site.

Most Chip sets come with 2 packs of playing cards but these are usually low quality and last only a few hours play, packs found at the backs of sideboards are also a bad option as there is usually one or more cards missing. High quality playing cards are by far the best in look and feel don’t spend money on good chips and then scrimp on the cards. Dealer, big blind, and small blind buttons are also a nice touch and details of where to get these and a whole host of other useful stuff is listed in the miscellaneous section.

Next item on the agenda is timings and running your games. There is an abundance of resources dedicated to this including my own poster downloads most of which is free, certainly all downloads specific to this site are free to anyone who wants to use them.

The only thing left is the food and booze. In this matter I will not insult your intelligence only to say it is included in my tournament check list which can be found here. I have however posted some very nice recipes for taco dips and the like in the food section.

Please use all or any of the resources on this site with my blessing but please don’t steal my content for your own site that’s just being ungrateful.
